Contemporary portrait wall art utilizing the 18th century Portrait of a Lady wearing blue silk by Thomas Hudson now adorned with a blue
and white butterfly. The beautifully dressed woman in a striking blue garment is an 18th century style portrait with a modern
adornment, a beautiful butterfly. Part of a series of works that are a collaboration between Young & Battaglia and Kirin Young that all
feature a butterfly obscuring the face of the subject. One of the more unique aspects within this work is the butterfly’s size in context
with the woman. Fun is being had with the placement of the butterfly but, as with other works in the series, the butterfly isn’t entirely out
of place due to the pallet. Here the butterfly is even less misplaced as the striking nature of the butterfly matches that of the woman
and it’s as if they are partners in the image.
